Stuck in Perfectionism? Here’s Why (& What to Do Instead)
You’ve got a coaching certification (or soon will)..
You’ve got a big heart and a deep desire to help people.
You’ve even got ideas for what you could offer…
And yet—You’re still stuck.
Spinning in circles.
Overthinking every post.
Tweaking your signature system for the 47th time.
Waiting until everything feels “just right.”
Sound familiar?
If so, you’re not lazy, unmotivated, or doing it wrong.
You’re likely stuck in perfectionism.
(And spoiler alert: it’s one of the most common traps for newbie wellness coaches.)
Why Perfectionism Hits So Hard in the Beginning
Perfectionism doesn’t always look like trying to be perfect.
Sometimes, it looks like:
Procrastinating sharing your offer because “the timing isn’t right”
Obsessing over your niche or offer title
Constantly consuming courses, but never implementing
Feeling paralyzed by the thought of posting something “wrong”
Telling yourself you’re “not ready” (over and over again)
Here’s what’s really going on:
Fear of judgment:
You care deeply. So the idea of putting yourself out there and being met with crickets (or criticism) feels terrifying.
Lack of clarity:
Without a clear offer, message, or niche—it’s easy to keep spinning and never start.
Comparison overload:
You’re seeing coaches who’ve been at this for years, and wondering why your business doesn’t look like theirs… yet.
All-or-nothing thinking:
If it’s not 100% perfect, polished, and proven… it must not be “ready.” So you keep waiting.
But here’s the truth: you cannot build a coaching business in your head.
Nor can you build it solely on your laptop.
You have to take action before you feel ready. And the more you move, the clearer everything becomes.
5 Actionable Ways to Break the Perfectionism Pattern and Get Unstuck
These tips are intentionally simple—because overcomplicating things is part of the problem.
1. Pick a “starter” offer—then test it
Not a full program. Not your “forever” signature system.
Just a simple Mini-Offer that solves one problem for one type of person. Then invite 3–5 people to try it. You’ll learn 10x faster by doing than by planning.
Get my step by step formula to quickly and confidently create yours.
2. Set a timer and hit publish
Got an email, IG caption, or sales page draft?
Give yourself 20 minutes to clean it up, then hit send/publish/post.
You’ll survive.
And probably even thrive.
3. Talk to real humans
Instead of guessing what your ideal clients want, ask!
Send 5 DMs or emails this week asking past clients, friends, or colleagues:
“What would you love support with right now in your health/life/wellness?”
Conversations = clarity. Every time.
4. Post something imperfect on purpose
Yes, you read that right.
Make an imperfect post. Say what’s on your heart. Share behind-the-scenes of your business journey.
Watch how people connect with your realness.
It’s more important now than it’s ever been to be your real, authentic, and at times messy self. That’s what people connect with and click on. Not perfectly curated photos, videos, posts, etc.
5. Decide on a finish line
Give yourself a deadline to launch something.
Doesn’t matter if it’s a beta offer, a free challenge, or a new coaching package.
Set a date, tell someone, and GO.
Progress loves a finish line.
Final Thoughts: Progress > Perfection, Every Time
If you’ve been stuck in perfectionism, just know:
You’re not broken. You’re not behind. And you’re definitely not alone.
You’re just a passionate coach who cares a lot… and hasn’t yet learned (or experienced) that action creates clarity.
So here’s your permission slip to let go of doing it “right”… and start doing it real.
You don’t need to be perfect to be powerful.
You just need to take the next step.
