What I Wish Every New Wellness Coach Knew About Making Money

Real talk for the passionate coach stuck in perfection mode.

So… you’ve got the training.
You’ve got the passion.
You even made yourself a Canva logo and picked a soft sage green brand color that says “trust me, I’m chill.”

And yet…

You’re still not making money as a coach. 😩

You’re not alone. Most new wellness coaches find themselves in the same spot—pouring their heart into their biz, but somehow still feeling stuck, confused, and wondering what the heck they’re doing wrong.

And I get it. Because that was 100% me.

Today, I want to share what I wish someone had told me when I was starting out. (Spoiler: It’s not what you’ve seen in most “how to grow your coaching biz” posts.)

Whether you’re still trying to define your niche or you’ve built a full-on program that no one’s buying (ouch), this is for you.


1. You Don’t Need a Giant Program to Make Money

In fact… that’s probably what’s keeping you broke.

So many coaches think they need to launch a $2K+ signature system to be taken seriously.

 But what actually happens?

👉 You spend months (or years) creating the thing.
👉 You quietly drop it on Instagram.
👉 And then…crickets.

The truth is, you don’t need a big, shiny program to get clients.

You just need to solve one specific micro problem for one specific group of people—and make that mini- offer super easy to say YES to.

Your first offer doesn’t need to change someone’s entire life; it just needs to help them take their first meaningful step forward.


2. Clarity Beats Confidence (At First)

You’ve probably heard, “You just need to be more confident!”

But when you’re brand new, selling with confidence feels impossible—because you haven’t worked with many - if any - paying clients yet. And let’s be honest: confidence doesn’t magically appear overnight.

What actually helps?

Clarity.

When you know exactly who you help, what you help them with, and how you get them results—it’s way easier to talk about your offer.

Clarity gives you something to stand on.
Confidence follows.

Confidence only comes from strategic action.

So what’s strategic action?

Asking your audience what they want.

Doing market research to find out what your ideal clients are asking, challenged by, fed up with and then creating a simple and specific offer that solves ONE of their problems.


3. Most Coaches Start in the Wrong Order

Here’s what I did at first (and maybe you are too):

  • Built a fancy website

  • Created an entire 12-week program

  • Posted inspirational quotes and tips on Instagram

  • Waited for someone to magically DM me, begging to sign up

And guess what? No one did.

I was building my business backwards.

What should I have done?

✅ Gotten clear on my niche
✅ Chose one small, clear micro problem to solve
✅ Created a simple offer around that
✅ Shared it consistently with real people

Selling before you feel 100% “ready” can be scary—but waiting for perfection keeps you stuck.


4. Clients Don’t Come From Canva

You don’t need a logo, a website, or a fully branded offer to get clients. (Yep, I said it.)

We all know Canva’s AWESOME! 

However, you know what Canva can’t give you?

→ Clear messaging
→ A problem-solving offer
→ A way to connect with your people (DMs, emails, convos!)

In other words, it can’t give you clarity, confidence, or clients.

Pretty graphics are cute, but taking action is what actually leads to those big 3 C’s. 


5. Progress Beats Perfection—Every.Single.Time

If you’re still tweaking your offer, your bio, your pricing, your elevator pitch, your website copy, your Instagram grid…

👉 Take that energy and go make and share a small offer instead.

Making money as a coach doesn’t happen because your system is perfect.
It happens because you show up, share value, and make offers to real humans.

You’ll learn faster by doing than by overthinking. #micdrop
